DogWalkingCity

My name is Erik Klein Wolterink. I report about my everyday walks with my dog in the Schinkel- and Hoofddorpplein area. This blog starts parallel to the exhibition "My City Drifts" in Retort Art Space.
I am a little sad… last week I made a photo of a typical object in the public space of Amsterdam: the “pepper can”… used as advertisement-pillar and electricity-house… yesterday it was gone… after more than 60 years…. now there is that grey thing in the background… :-(   article in Parool

some days, like today, many airplanes fly close above our neighbourhood… it feels much closer in reality, than it looks on this photo… ”If your photographs aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.”-Robert Capa… but how can I get closer?… and much more important, what are those stripes: fuel?… :-/
PS Hans Peter Feldmann made little artist books, one with 12 photos like this, now sold in series… recently for $9.375 at Christies

I like this mix of architecture… every time when I pass this, I have to look aside to this entrance… it even has his own website with interesting information and pictures of its history: Lightfactory

Beneath every streetname there is the name of the district… like here “Oud Zuid”… in 1962 our district got the name “Overtoomse Veld”… which you still can read on all signs, when you look very very close… in 1990 they covered the old name and wrote the new: “Oud Zuid”
PS in 2010 it changed again, now into “Zuid”… except for these signs, they didn’t change… don’t know why… maybe they expect the next change soon ;-)

Always when I see this, I automaticly smile… don’t know why… maybe because I like bird-watching, but what bird is this?… art-paintings, but who is the artist?… or Turkish pizza’s, afiyet olsun?… mmm

Sorrysorrysorry. I failed… Yesterday I made this lousy picture… Because I wanted to inform you about this bargain: a hometrainer and a child-chair for free! Today I went there again, but it was gone…
